ICAR- CISH, Lucknow organized five days training programme on Mango- Guava production, packaging and marketing from September 23-27 2024. Thirty farmers from various blocks of Samastipur district of Bihar were participated in training. At the outset of programme, Scientists underline the importance of subtropical fruits of Mango- Guava and their production technology, quality product and improved packaging that will enhance farmers income. They also advised farmers to work in groups for benefits. During the training programme lectures pertaining improved varieties of mango and guava and their management establishment of good orchards, production technology, high density planting of mango and guava, nutrition and irrigation management in rejuvenated and old orchards of mango, natural farming, organic fruit production, canopy management, physiological disorders in mango and their management, intercropping in orchards, packaging and marketing of subtropical fruits, value added products of mango and guava, important insect pest and diseases of mango and guava and their management, processing and value addition of mango and guava, identification of maturity of mango and guava, value addition and processing of fruits etc. were given by the scientific faculties of the institute. Practical training on fruit processing was also given to the participants in processing laboratory. During field visit, hands on training on propagation methods of fruit crops in nursery, management of nursery and mother blocks, entrepreneur development through vegetables nursery were explained to the participants. This training was sponsored by ATMA, Samastipur, Bihar. Dr. Naresh Babu, Principal Scientist, Dr. Abha Singh, Principal Scientist and Dr. S.S. Das Scientist were coordinators of the programme.
