The ICAR-CISH, Lucknow continued its Swachhata Pakhwada even on 4th and 5th October, 2016. On 4th October, a team of scientists, officers and staff headed by Dr. Ram Kumar, Principal Scientist visited the Kakori railway station. The raison d’etre of the visit was to clean the platforms of the Kakori railway station and create awareness amongst the railways staff as well as the passengers. On October 5, 2016 under the leadership of Dr. Anup Bhattacharya, Principal Scientist, members of the committee visited the adopted village Moiddipur under Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav and cleaned the school premise of the Primary School. The visiting officials also gave valuable suggestions to teachers and students regarding the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. A team of scientists headed by Dr. Dinesh Kumar, visited the Malihabad railway station on 9th October, 2016 to clean the entrance & platforms of the Malihabad railway station and to create awareness among the railway employees as well as the passengers. In continuation of cleanliness drive, a team of CISH staffs visited Primary schools of Golakuan & Mandauli on 13.10.16 and Bukhtiyarnagar on 14.10.16. ICAR-CISH staffs had taken oath for Swachh Bharat during initiation of Swachhta Pakhwada on 17.10.2016 which is presided over by Director, ICAR- CISH. All the officials of institute had promised to keep their surroundings neat and clean. Farm men & women were enlightened about utilization of decomposable garbage and agricultural biodegradable waste into compost to improve the soil fertility as well as reduce the environmental pollution. Awareness also created about cleanliness, child healthcare and demerits of open defecation at Bukhtiyarnagar, Malihabad. On 18.10.16, A team of ICAR-CISH staffs visited two villages viz. Tikatganj and Mandouli. On this occasion, farm men & women were educated about demerits of open defecation, water conservation, and importance of personal, home and surrounding cleanliness. Seedlings of vegetables were also distributed among the farmers to assist nutritional security. On 19.10.2016, ICAR-CISH staffs had collected biodegradable agricultural waste from the surroundings to prepare compost and it would be used as organic manure. It was demonstrated to a group of twenty farmers from the Department of Agriculture, Shivpuri, M.P. to make compost using farm waste using beneficial bacteria & fungus An essay competition was conducted to create awareness on the importance of cleanliness at Inter college, Vidyasthali, Kanar on 20.10.16. Fifty students comprising of two groups from Class 8-10th and 11-12th were participated in this competition.
