Society for Conservation of Mango Diversity (SCMD), a mango farmers association from Malihabad, Lucknow started by the initiative of ICAR-CISH is conferred this year with "Plant Genome Savior Community Award" for conservation of mango varieties by Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers’ Rights Authority (PPV&FRA), India, in an award ceremony held on 24th August at National Academy of Agricultural Sciences, New Delhi. The award presented by honorable union minister of Agriculture and Farmers welfare Shri. Radha Mohan Singh and also the occasion graced with the presence of honorable minister(s) of state for Agriculture and Farmers welfare Shri S.S. Ahluwalia, Shri. Parshottam Rupala and Shri. Sudarshan Bhagat. The award included price money of Rs. 10 Lakhs and a memento. Dr. S. Rajan, Director, ICAR-CISH (facilitator) along with five members of SCMD attended function to receive the honor.
