ICAR-CISH to come up with KVK at Malda

A team led by former Vice Chancellor (RAU, Bihar) G Trivedi visited the regional research station of Central Institute of Subtropical Horticulture (CISH) at Malda to select the site for proposed Krishi Vigyan Kendra, on Tuesday. CISH director Shailendra Rajan said that the farmers will be benefitted by KVK project. “The site selection committee stressed upon that fact that mango being an important crop of the district, the proposed KVK should work to solve the problem of mango industry at Malda and also to diversify the fruit crop production by introducing different types fruits like, guava, pineapple, jamun, bael and aonla” he said. “Several CISH technologies like varieties, hi-tech nursery, canopy management, pest and diseases management, protected cultivation and value addition can directly be adopted by the farmers of the region, where KVK can play an important role. The committee also suggested to intensify our programme on fruit crop based integrated farming systems having livestock components for livelihood and nutritional security” he added.
