A brainstorming session on “GAP Certification in Mango” held on 09.08.2016 at ICAR-CISH, Rehmakhera Lucknow. Dr. Shailendra Rajan, Director, ICAR-CISH highlighted the importance of the subject and the benefits likely to be accrued to the stakeholders in terms of better marketing and price realization. Speaking at length, Mr. Mohit Sharma, Research Scholar from University of Rajasthan shared his experiences gathered through intensive tours and farmer’s interaction with reference to pros and cons of EUROGAP/GAP Certification and about its awareness amongst the farmers of Southern part of mango belt. Representatives from state government flagged the issues in respect of database pertaining to records of GAP at individual farmer level. Interacting with participants, Director, ICAR-CISH, Lucknow explained about the efforts made by ICAR-CISH, Lucknow in developing such a database and constitution of the society. In this programme, representatives from Mango Pack House, Lucknow, Mandi Parishad, Lucknow and Society for Conservation of Mango Biodiversity from Kasmandi Kalam, Mohammadnagar Talukedari, Sarsanda, Goparamau, Unnao and other parts of Lucknow were also participated.
