MONTH-WISE OPERATIONS FOR THE INTEGRATED DISEASE MANAGEMENT IN MANGO

January

Plants care

  • To protect plants from frost injury it is necessary to irrigate the field. 

Malformation

  • New flower buds or new growing panicles should be pruned and destroyed.

February

Powdery mildew

  • Affected panicles should be removed and burnt.
  • 2g wettable sulphur/lit. water and liquid soap is mixed and spraying first spray. 10-20 lit. required for one plant.

March

Powdery mildew

  • Second spray Tridimorph (claxin @ 1% before the opening of the flowers.
  • At the fourth week of this month 0.1% dinocap or 0.1% Tridemorph is sprayed.
  • Third spray should be done when fruit set.

April

Blossom blight

  • Two spray of Companion (0.2%) at 15 days interval should be sprayed.

May

Black tip and internal necrosis

  • Two to three sprays of Borax @ 1g/lit. water.

Shooty mould

  • One spray of Wetasul + Metacid + Gum (0.2, 0.1 + 0.3%) mixture.

Bacterial canker

  • 200 ppm straptocycline should be sprayed.

June

Bacterial canker

  • Second spray of 200 ppm streptocycline.

Anthracnose

  • 3g/lit copper oxychloride spray may be done in the third or fourth week.
  • Mango stones should be treated with thiromorcaptan @ 3gr/lit.

August

Anthracnose & Red rust

  • 2nd and 3rd spray with in 15-20 days interval @ 3g/lit. water copperoxychloride

Soil treatment for seedling rots

  • Spray captan @ 3g/lit. water.

September

Anthracnose and red rust

  • One spray can be repeated
  • Ploughing and cleaning for the collateral host of several pathogens

October

Die back

  • Affected branches should be removed from 2-3” below the dried portion.

Phoma blight and gumosis

  • Copper oxychloride 3g/lit. water is sprayed.
  • 200-400 g of copper sulphate paste applied.
  • Quantity of fertilizer should also be applied.

November

Die back and phoma blight

  • Second and third spray of 3g/lit. water copper oxychloride

December

Rejuvenation

  • Select old and unproductive mango trees.
  • Protect crop from frost injury.
